The Economist has a short piece on the pressure being felt by Coca-Cola due to their sponsorship of the 2008 Olympics. In it they mention John Ruggie, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on business & human rights. Following serendipity, I found that the UN has, at Mr. Ruggie’s request, put together a resource center on businesses & human rights. As mentioned in the above-mentioned article, Mr. Ruggie has proposed a new framework for the interaction of business in respect to human rights, which is available at the resource center and will be presented to the UN in June.
